Fashion model Evelyn Carmel was married to a hood named George Uffner, a former associate and the suspected murderer of Arnold Rothstein. Uffner was also questioned in the murder of Albert Anastasia. Otherwise, he was a top tier narcotics importer and distributor who probably worked within the Luciano drug network.

In 1959, Uffner was killed in a Braniff Airways crash. Evelyn sued the airlines but didn’t really need the money since Uffner left her a series of oil well investments that he shared, probably, with Boss Frank Costello. She died in 1986.
